The SHE's

This San Fransisco band has caught my attention. It consists of an all teenage girl band who plays poppy beach indie rock. I love this band because they are so young but the vibe they give me is a riot grrrl meets beach boys aesthetic. How could i forget that they also remind me so much of The Runaways!
I don't think they have released any albums but I think they are going to make it big!

Check out The SHE's myspace
And yes it's CAPITAL SHE lowercase s. :)

Here are a couple of youtube videos of them performing. various covers and original song as well as a song they did with Magic Kids.

Beth Ditto EP

I am quite excited for the new solo EP by the fabulous Beth Ditto also known as the front woman of the band, The Gossip. This new EP is a very classic pop album with influences by Madonna (literally in Beth Ditto's video for "I wrote the book" which was an ode to Madonna's Justify My Love.). Most of the tracks were produced by the electronic legends known as, Simian Mobile Disco.

The Track listing:
1.I Wrote the Book
2.Good Night Good Morning
3.Open Heart Surgery
4.Do you Need Someone

The EP is due to release March 7 every where and March 8th in the States.

Here is the video for the first single "I Wrote the Book"

Exclusive track: Rota

My good friend Michael Heimall just finished recording a new song with his band Rota.
Rota is a new band formed in Middletown, Rhode Island. The band's sound is very reminiscent of early 90s post-hardcore/emo, Michael's vocals is in great contrast to fellow bandmate, Lizzy Callas' feminine, harmonic voice. I find that they sound similar to the early 90s band, Braid.

You can download Rota's previous EP release on their BandCamp. I expect that since you are here you probably already know of Rota and I'll just leave you guys with their newest track.
